The Society has satisfaction that it observes and implement fully all the principles of Co-operation which are essential for Co-operative Sector. These principles are listed below :

(i) Voluntary and open Membership: The Society has kept membership open to any horticulturist (having horticultural land under his cultivation) from Goa. Membership is given to both Men and Women without any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and religion. Besides this we have Co-operative Societies as its members.
We are also enrolling nominal members, who may not have horticultural land under their cultivation, but who are otherwise valid customers.

(ii) Effective Management Control: The Annual General Body Meetings are largely attended by the members from all over Goa and are well interactive. The members make very valuable suggestions with respect to the policies of the Society. The Society has an elected Board of Directors and the members have equal voting right. The election for the Board of Director’s are held after every four years and Chairman/Vice Chairman are elected every year. The Society is professionally managed with a professional and experienced Managing Director and the Staff.

(iii) Autonomy & Independence: This Society does not have any political interference or pressure from Govt. or from any external agency. This Society is well known for its Co-operative autonomy. This Society runs its business on its on terms and conditions subject to the control of the board elected by the members.

(iv) Member Economic Participation: The Bye laws provide that the members while selling the produce to the Society have to buy shares at least equal to 5% of the value. The Society has built up reserves as the member preferred low dividends. The members bring in deposits as and when the Society needs money for its business. The Society also pays them better rates of interest (but lower than the borrowing rate through banks) while buying the produce from the members, at least one percent additional incentive is given.

(v) Education, Training & Information: The farmers are imparted training from time to time in Co-ordination with Agricultural Dept. and ICAR on the related subject, under various State & Central Govt. Schemes and projects. The Society also conducts various training workshop/programmes, for the employees on the topics like Customer Relationship, Selling of pesticides and fertilizers, Computer training etc. The reputed Industrial Organizations like Zuari, Kirloskar etc. in co-ordination with this Society conducts training programmes for farmers and members of this Society on the issues realted to agriculture.

(vi) Co-operation among Co-operatives: The Society is a member of Goa Rajya Sahakari Sangh. Although the transactions are on mainly cash basis, the Society gives credits while doing business with Co-operative Societies. The Society has 59 Co-operatives Societies as our members and one Director is elected by such Co-operative Society Members.

(vii) Concern for Community: The Society does the community service by timely providing the general public all the essential commodities under one roof at low rates. The Society plays the roll of controlling the market prices during the recess time i.e. during trade strikes, scarcities of commodities etc. We also encourage excellence by giving awards annually to the children of members and employees.

(viii) Socio-Economic development: The Society has ensured Socio-Economic development and also brought into its fold women and weaker sections through out Goa, by effectively controlling the price level in the state. The Society has continuously Audit ‘A’ class for last 27 years.
